Lepokole residential plots allocation in May

11 Feb 2020

Bobonong Sub-land Board is expected to start allocating plots at Lepokole in May.

Responding to residents’ call to be allocated residential plots, the sub-land board chairperson, Mr Kganya Poloko said Lepokole was among villages that would enjoy the waiver granted in December 2019.

Other villages in Bobonong constituency are Gobojango and Tsetsebjwe.

According to Mr Poloko, residents had argued that strategic environmental assessment would delay allocation of plots in their village and exacerbate the dire need for residential plots.

The waiting list was reportedly at over 2 100 for such a hamlet.

Mr Poloko said the land board was also looking into filling up spaces within the village, a move he hoped would yield more plots to augment the surveyed ones in the map.

He also expressed his wish that the number of plots could increase to cater for the over 2 100 applicants, provided they did not own plots elsewhere.

In previous meetings, Mr Poloko told residents that a sum of P30 million was required to facilitate surveying, mapping and environmental strategic assessment, among other requirements under Ngwato territory before land boards could allocate plots.

However, he could not avail a specific date for the processes to be completed since the funds in question were not available at the time.

Unlike in the past, Mr Poloko indicated that land boards allocated surveyed plots with a title deed as enshrined in the 2015 land policy.

The move also ensured that there were services as water and electricity before plots could be surveyed. ENDS
