Minister of Land Management, Water and Sanitation Services has said the construction of sewerage lines at Botsalano ward, Gerald Estates and Moselewapula area 25 in Francistown West were done by three companies at different periods.

He said Botsalano was done by Kalcon construction while Gerald Estate Block 5 was done by China State Company and Block 6 by Unik Construction.

Responding to a question from Member of Parliament for Francistown West, Mr Ignitius Moswaane in Parliament on Monday, Minister Mzwinila said he was aware of 17 plots at Botsalano ward (Kgaphamadi) and 35 plots at Gerald Estate area 25 that were not serviced due to premises being far from service lines (secondary lines) and 25 plots were lower than the nearest connection point.

He said this was due to connections being outside scope of work for the contractor, as they were far from the service lines while some were lower than the nearest connection point, saying that required a huge amount of funds that was not budgeted for.

He said the affected portions would be considered under NDP 12 due to budgetary constraints.

Francistown West legislator had asked the minister to name the companies that were engaged to construct sewerage lines at Botsalano ward, Gerald Estate and at Moselewapula Area 25 in Francistown West and if the minister was aware that the company that was engaged left the work incomplete and some plots unserviced even though the company was paid.
