Foster high performance culture

06 Feb 2020

Ministry of Defence, Justice and Security Mr Kagiso Mmusi has implored employees to adopt a high performance culture in the facilitation of governance, peace and security to Botswana.

Addressing participants who attended a three-day retreat for the ministry at Manong Game Lodge recently, Mr Mmusi said as the second largest budget allocation recipients, they should do more to provide efficient service delivery to the nation.

The ministry was allocated P1.94 billion during the recent budget speech for the 2020/21 financial year.

Mr Mmusi therefore urged employees to ensure that the funds are put to good use in attainment of productivity within the ministry.

He said that would help the country achieve its goals of transformation to a high income economy.

“We have to engage in appropriate development process to reach our objectives.

Such a process requires that we be honest in our own evaluation and desire to achieve more for Botswana. We need to ask ourselves the right questions: How have we been doing business? What practices should we let go off and which ones should we improve? We need to be more result oriented.”

He further urged the ministry to review their overall mandate in line with the Constitution of Botswana.

He said the push for economic transformation called for the re-alignment of the ministry strategy to the country’s development frameworks, including the National Development Plan 11.  ENDS
