No plans to build brigade in Kgatleng river villages
05 Feb 2020
There are no plans to build a brigade in the Kgatleng river villages, says the Minister of Employment, Labour Productivity and Skills Development, Mr Mpho Balopi.
Responding to a question in Parliament, Mr Balopi said following the Presidential Directive in 2006, government was to establish technical colleges in Kgatleng river villages, Khakhea, Phitshane-Molopo, Boteti, Ngami and Tswapong South.
Mr Balopi, however, said the directive could not be implemented due to the 2008 global economic meltdown and the minister said it could not be accommodated either in National Development Plan (NDP) 10 and 11 because of budgetary constraints.
The minister said as a solution, they were looking into the idea of public-private-partnership and other ways of realising value from any eligible funds or levies.
Minister Balopi was responding to a question from Mochudi East legislator, Mr Mabuse Pule who had asked the minister when construction of a brigade planned for the river villages in Kgatleng would commence. ENDS
