Double Action on roll

03 Feb 2020

Double Action continued its winning streak, drubbing Geronah Sporting Club 3-1 in a Gaborone Region Women League encounter at Lekidi  Football Centre over the weekend.

Out of eight games played so far, Double Action have kept a clean sheet and are currently perched at the summit of the log with 34 points.

Double Action demonstrated that class is permanent as they outclassed the youthful and inexperienced Geronah in their Sunday encounter.

Geronah was the first to draw blood in the 16th minute through Masego Nfandiso.

However, their celebration was short-lived as Ontlametse Gaonyadiwe equalised, a minute after their goal.

The goal breathed life into the game, as both teams started played entertaining football, attacking each other.

And Double Action extended their lead through Lesego Radiakanyo’s goal.

Double Action’s second goal did not deter Geronah as they attacked their opponents, but it was difficult to penetrate their opponent’s defence, which was well guarded by captain Bonang ‘Bebeto’ Otlhagile

Double Action proved its not by fluke that they are leading the log but my merit as they scored their third goal in the 40th minute, through a penalty taken by Radiakanyo, who wasted no time, and beat Geronah goal minder, Lesego Moeng to make it 3-1 for her team.

The game went into a recess with score board reading 3-1, but after break, Geronah made some threat and Double Action goalkeeper, Bame Mokime and her defence could not budge.

Double Action coach, Thabo Basupi said in a post match interview that he was happy with the players’ performance, adding that they had prepared well for the game, given that they knew Geronah’s strength particularly their speed and attack.

He said they could have scored an avalanche of goals, but the players could not utilise their chances.

He added that they would work on their finishing moving forward.

“Some of my players were from the national duty, so they did not train with the team, hence there was a little bit of confusion,” he said.

Geronah coach, Gaolethoo Nkutwisang said the game was tough adding that the players failed to gel as a team. “But all in all, we tried to recover in the second half, but it was not our day. Hopefully in our next game we will try to correct our mistakes,” she said.

In other games played on Saturday, UB Kicks beat Big Sisters 3-1, while FC Ambassadors beat FC Legends 5-4. On Sunday, Township Rollers walloped Wonder Girls 6-2.

In Nhabe region, Maun United Terrors and Tshwaragano played to a three-all draw while Real Killers beat Moeti 3-0. ENDS
