Students sustain minor injuries as classroom roof collapses

Five students at sustained minor injuries when the roof of a temporary classroom collapsed at Moses Mengwe junior school on Friday.
In an interview with the chief education officer for Tutume region, Ms Khumo Mosetlha said the students who sustained injuries were taken to the local clinic where they were treated and discharged same day.
Ms Mosetlha highlighted that about 35 students were in the temporary structure when the accident occurred, but 30 of them escaped unhurt.
For his part, the school head, Mr Patrick Siwawa explained that the incident happened around lunch time while the school management and teachers were in a meeting analysing Junior Certificate Examination results and the students were with their prefects.
He said it was the prefects who reported the incident to them and they immediately acted by taking the affected students to the clinic.
Mr Siwawa explained that the structure was a temporary one used as a classroom for form one students. Ends
