Computer Palour internet café director, Mr Gaopalelwe Bodietswane, has been applauded for donating five computers to University of Kids (UK) in Kanye recently.
When receiving the donation, UK director, Mr Taolo Moshaga, applauded Mr Bodietswane for sowing a seed that could go a long way in inspiring the next generation of engineers, mathematicians, scientists, among others, from a tender age.
He said the donation was in line with the nation’s vision of a building knowledge-based economy.
Mr Moshaga said they would upgrade and install children specific software to ensure they enjoyed maximum benefit from the machines and described Mr Bodietswane as an asset to the community.
He challenged Batswana to go back to a time when they used to see every child in the street as their own.
“Investing in any child is as good as investing in ourselves as a nation, this child could be your daughter or son-in-law tomorrow,” he said.
For his part, Mr Bodietswane whose venture was sponsored by the government, said he wanted to reciprocate the gesture by ploughing back into the community that raised him.
He said it was important to give children access to computers from a tender age. ENDS
