BDF players dominated the inaugural tournament, which was the first in the calendar of Botswana Table Tennis Association (BTTA). 

The tournament played in Gaborone over the weekend at Naledi Senior Secondary School attracted different clubs from around the country. 

Though it was the first tournament of the year, most players displayed some good skills and an impressive level of fitness on the field of play and there were some nice fixtures, especially on the semifinal stage and finals. 

The BDF club showed some dominance in most of the categories as they emerged victorious in almost all groups. 

The Men’s singles final featured Tshenolo Mooketsi of BDF against Thobo Matlhatsi also BDF and it was Mooketsi who won the encounter 3-1. 

The duo had earlier on trounced Phetso Jack and Boago Malobela respectively in the semifinals to book a place in the finals. 

The men doubles saw the two BDF men Tshenolo Mooketsi and Thobo Matlhatsi asserting their dominance by once again beating Boago Malobela and Tshepang Mogala, both from Smash maniacs by 3-1, while in the ladies doubles, their female counterparts Game Kebodiwang and Salome Matlhatsi also rose to the occasion as they trounced Tshepiso Rebatenne and Tshepang Motlhamme of Nhabe 3-2. 

BDF club continued with their dominance in the mixed doubles when Tshenolo Mooketsi and Salome Matlhatsi beat Boitshwarelo Butale and Joseph Kgatlampane of Smash Maniacs 3-2. 

The Under-18 boys category also went to the army club as Sean Dekop and Thero Masu both from the BDF faced off in the finals and it was Dekop who came out tops. 

Meanwhile, in other results the ladies singles went to Tshepiso Rebatenne of Nhabe, who was playing against Boitshwarelo Butale of Smash Maniacs with a score margin of 3-2. 

The Under-18 girls finale featured Wame Jawe of Smash Maniacs and Kutlo Kgweengane of Kanye club and Jawe was unstoppable as she smashed Kgweengane 3-0. 

The tournament, which is the first this year, saw a good attendance from both the players and spectators and for other teams it is back to the drawing board to go and make a plan on how to stop the marauding BDF. ENDS
