28 Jan 2020
The Minister of Land Management Water and Sanitation Services, Mr Kefentse Mzwinila has informed Ntlo Ya Dikgosi that government through the Civil Aviation Authority of Botswana (CAAB) has a plan for the relocation of Tsabong Airfield as there are limitations for operations and expansion within the current site.
He said the design for the new airfield to be located approximately 14 kilometres south of Tsabong were done and completed in 2011 during NDP 10.
Mr Mzwinila said the construction was earmarked for funding in NDP11, but noted that there was economic meltdown in 2010, and due to financial constraints and competing needs, government was unable to fund the project under NDP11.
The estimated project cost is P60million.
Mr Mzwinila was answering Kgalagadi South Region, Kgosi David Toto II who had asked the Ministry of Transport and Communications to state the progress made regarding the construction of the new Tsabong airport which was long allocated a plot at Logaganeng. ENDS
