Kgalagadi South women's league gets sponsorship

The newly formed Kgalagadi South Region Football Association (KSRFA) women’s football league kicked off to a good start after receiving P100 000 sponsorship from Elias and Sons Decorators for the 2013/14 season.
KSRFA women’s football league is a new regional football structure which comprises 11 teams from Middlepits, Bokspits, Omaweneno and Tsabong.
When speaking at the sponsorship launch in Gaborone on September 2, Elias and Sons Decorators managing director Elias Molatlhegi said his company was happy to contribute positively to the growth of women football.
He said his company saw it fit to sponsor women’s football as the code had been operating without sponsorship for a long time. “We were approached by the league committee and immediately developed interest. We are confident that this partnership will go a long way and elevate local football to greater heights,” he said.
Sesinyi added that the new sponsorship was an indication that sponsors are starting to notice the potential in women football. For his part, Senki Sesinyi, chairperson of National Women’s Football, thanked the sponsors for their generosity, adding that women were often sidelined in development structures, which alienated them from their male counterparts.
He said the lucrative sponsorship was proof of the new committee’s hard work and dedication and vowed that they would work hard to spread women’s football nationwide.
Sesinyi revealed that the Kgalagadi South region will host a tournament during independence, and the regional league will kick-off in October. The national women football league will start in September. The committee is also in the process of establishing another league in Selebi Phikwe.
Sesinyi further said the two top teams from the Kgalagadi region will join the six national first division teams at the end of the season. ENDS
