Kgosi decries slow project take-off

19 Jan 2020

Kgosi Molatedi Dingalo of Shorobe has lamented delays in implementation of projects such as water connection, establishment of a pre-school and plot allocation.

Kgosi Dingalo made the remarks during a road show organised by the North West District Council (NWDC) in Shorobe on January 17

Kgosi Dingalo urged the NWDC to assist and stated that water was a source of life and was needed for daily activities.

He said more plots were needed since the village had grown.

NWDC chairperson, Mr Kebareeditse Ntsogotlho said the road show was to sensitise remote areas on services offered by the council. He said residents from remote areas lacked information on services offered under different departments and procedures to be followed while seeking such services such as business license application, residential plot application and Self Help Housing Agency application requirements.

Maun Administration Authority held a similar event in Khwai and Sankoyo.

One Shorobe resident, Ms Keleagetswe Zinyane raised a concern that tenders were sometimes awarded to people from outside the village, while residents with the ability and necessary requirements are overlooked.

Ms Zinyane appreciated NWDC for their efforts. Ends
