Residents call for urgent renovation of Mothamo JSS
09 Jan 2020
Residents of Moiyabana, Mabuo and Motshegaletau have asked government to renovate Mothamo Junior Secondary School buildings and expand hostels urgently.
The residents made the appeal during kgotla meetings addressed by Serowe South MP, Mr Leepetswe Lesedi on January 7.
They said the boarding facilities at the school needed urgent attention because they were not only in a deplorable state, but also congested.
The residents said several school buildings were not in good condition, thus posing danger to the students.
Mabuo Village Development Committee chairperson, Mr Joshua Orakanye, said expansion of the hostels would benefit pupils from his village because they travelled a long distance to the school.
He said pupils from Mabuo were no longer accommodated due to congestion, thus pleading with the area MP to make the issue one of his priorities.
Moiyabana Village Development Committee chairperson, Ms Mogi Masupe, pleaded with government to build toilets at the village primary school, saying pupils usde pit latrines, which were not safe, especially for the young ones.
She also decried shortage of accommodation for civil servants, adding that three nurses were recently transferred to the village, but they did not report for duty due to lack of accommodation.
She pleaded with government to build more staff houses for nurses, saying there was need for a tower light at the clinic.
In response, Mr Lesedi promised to ensure that the residents’ pleas were attended to and urged the residents to work with him and the area councillors to bring developments to their villages.
He said it was important for him to visit his constituents to gather their grievances and promised to visit them after every parliamentary session or when the need arises. Ends
