Masisi drops in

07 Jan 2020

President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi yesterday touched base with residents of Mahotshwane in Ngwaketse West where he donated food hampers, blankets and goodies to hundreds of children.

“I missed you so much, wanted to just meet, greet you eye ball to eye ball and wish you a good year ahead. I’m so pleased to see that you all look well,” he said.

Dr Masisi took the opportunity to encourage residents to take advantage of the wet weather and produce food for their families.

He said there were credible signs that the current ploughing season would be rewarding.

President Masisi also urged parents to take good care of their children, plan for their future and steer them along the right path.

The nation’s hopes were anchored on young people, he pointed out.

For his part, Kgosi Mohurutshi Maipolelo of Mahotshwane thanked President Masisi for making time to meet his subjects to convey compliments of the new season.

Kgosi Maipolelo likewise wished Dr Masisi the best of luck in office adding he was the first head of state to visit the village, at least, in living memory.

President Masisi also visited Khonkhwa near Sekoma where he made similar donations.

He indicated he was checking on residents to get first-hand information on their welfare, greet and extend New Year’s wishes.

As in Mahotshwane, President Dr Masisi told residents who packed the kgotla to take care of their children to become better citizens of tomorrow.

Residents expressed gratitude for receiving food hampers and wished the President well in all his endeavours.

Ms Kenaleone Tolo, a resident, described President Masisi as a shepherd who cared about his flock saying the food hampers would relieve her from the hunger she was going through.

She said she was struggling to make ends meet and thanked the President for the noble gesture.

Another recipient, Ms Mafela Setimano, also a resident of Khonkhwa, could not contain her happiness and thanked God for the President’s compassion for the needy. Ends
