Ministry to maintain internal roads

The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development is currently sourcing funds to maintain the Botswana Housing Corporation (BHC) internal roads at Extension 4 in Palapye.
Minister Kgotla Autlwetse told Parliament that the roads had not been maintained for the past 20 years due to limited resources and other competing priorities.
He said the roads would be maintained before the end of 2019/2020 financial year.
On the issue of handover, he said the roads were developed by the local government ministry through the Central District Council.
As a result, he said there was no need for BHC to hand them over to council as they form part of the Palapye internal roads.
Palapye MP Mr Onneetse Ramogapi had asked the minister to state when the internal roads at Extension 4 would be maintained.ENDS
