Rainfall prospects promising for January-March

Department of Meteorological Services says rainfall prospects for the months of January, February and March, 2020 are promising for the western parts of Ngamiland, Ghanzi, Kgalagadi, Southern, Southeast, Kgatleng and Kweneng districts.
A news release from the department says it is anticipated that the above districts will receive normal to above normal rainfall for the period.
Normal for the period of January to March ranges between 100mm over the Kgalagadi District to 220mm over the southeastern parts of the country.
It further indicates that for the same period, the eastern parts of Ngamiland, Chobe, North East and Central districts are expected to receive normal to below normal rainfall. Normal rainfall for the period of January to March for these areas ranges between 200mm over the Central District to 320mm over the Chobe District.
The release says that overall, a moderately dry and hot season is expected over the north and eastern parts, whereas the west and southeastern parts of the country will be moderately wet, but also experiencing hot temperatures during the forecast period.
Meanwhile, above normal temperatures are expected countrywide. ENDS
