Nominated councillor, Mr Olifant Mfa, is the new Sowa town mayor. 

Mr Mfa and his deputy, Mr Bethuel Botumile were unanimously elected during a Sowa council meeting on December 10.

In his acceptance speech, Mr Mfa said councillors’ input was needed for success of Sowa Town Council.

“In politics, you are never 100 per cent, therefore, I welcome all positive and negative feedback from you,” he said.

He said there would always be challenges facing the council hence the need for councillors to work as a team with the council staff. 

Mr Mfa also commended his predecessor, Mr George Maphane, for sailing through his five-year period as the mayor, despite outstanding challenges.

He nonetheless asserted that there was still a lot that needed to be done for Sowa town regarding developments.

Sowa is made up of eight nominated councillors: Ms Kgomotso Seduke, Ms Iponeng Motsomi, Mr Bahiti Ratora, Mr Kgathego Olothantse, Mr Mabunga Gadibolae and Mr Ontiretse Kabalele in addition to the mayor and deputy. Ends
