Chobe district councillors elect Mabuku chairperson
10 Dec 2019
Chobe district councillors have elected councillors Amos Mabuku of Chobe Enclave West and Sharps Munihango of Kasane Central Ward as the council’s chairperson and deputy respectively.
The duo were elected unopposed during a full council meeting on December 5.
In his acceptance speech, the newly elected council chairperson thanked the councillors for electing him to lead them.
Cllr Mabuku told them that as a new broom they should not expect him to be perfect as his predecessor and such should always advise him.
He promised to always consult the former council chairperson, Councillor Paul Chabaesele.
He promised the council meeting that together with his deputy he would follow up incomplete projects to ensure they were completed and to also ensure services reach people of Chobe.
He further assured the councillors that he would be hands on to ensure implementation of promises that the council made to the Chobe residents.
At the same meeting, chairpersons and members of different council committees were elected. ENDS
