Ministry unable to transport pupils

10 Dec 2019

The Minister of Basic Education Mr Fidelis Molao says his ministry is not in a position to transport students to school daily because of budget constraints.

Responding to a question from Member of Parliament for Nkange Dr Never Tshabang, Mr Molao said the ministry encouraged parents to work together towards the provision of transport for their children, through either carpooling or contributions to hire public transport like buses.

Mr Molao noted that his ministry, however, would consider to include an upgrade of a suitable junior secondary school in the area, to a boarding school to ease the situation within the constituency. Dr Tshabang had asked the minister to state plans in place to assist students who travelled long distances of about 25kms a day to access education in the Nkange Constituency. He also asked if there were any plans to construct hostels in Nkange and Moses Mengwe junior secondary school. ENDS
