09 Dec 2019

Mascom recently donated P58 700 to Botswana Police Service Women Network - north to help in the fight against Gender Based Violence (GBV).

Speaking during the handover ceremony, Mascom chief communications and public relations officer, Ms Tebogo Lebotse-Sebego reiterated that the company was committed to supporting initiatives that not only leave a lasting impact, but were also sustainable.

The donation emanated from the proceeds of the Batanani Walk, which was held in September in Francistown. Mascom then promised to donate to an organisation that was involved in fighting gender based violence.

Ms Lebotse-Sebego noted that Mascom’s corporate social responsibility focused mainly on six areas of information and communication technology development, sports, arts, vulnerable groups, environment and mobile health.

Ms Lebotse-Sebego said Mascom was passionate about making an impact in the lives of vulnerable groups, revealing that it would be handing over five houses to beneficiaries as part of its housing appeal, which was established in 2012.

For his part, chief marketing manager, Mr Shimboy Kgosiemang said the funds would go towards a symposium targeting first officers when gender based violence reports were made,  which include the Botswana Police Service, Botswana Defence Force (BDF), and health workers among others.

Botswana Police Women’s Network is an NGO that coordinates and facilitates activities around women in the police including on issues of gender based violence. ENDS
