Ministry identifies new contractor

Construction of the Tshesebe-Mosojane-Masunga road is expected this financial year for the duration of just under two years, the Minister of Transport and Communications, Mr Thulagano Segokgo has said.Briefing Parliament, the minister said the procurement process had just been completed while the new contractor had been identified following the re-tendering of the project.

“The upgrading of the road to bitumen standard is in progress. The project was earlier on awarded, but the original contract was terminated due to poor performance,” he said. He said the ministry was aware of the deteriorating Tshesebe-Mosojane-Masunga road, adding that as part of the short term rehabilitation measures, they were carrying out some maintenance works for the road and its access roads. The main road was last graded in November.

The minister was answering a question from MP for Tati West, Mr Simon Moabi who wanted to know when the upgrading of the road to bitumen standard would be done and the measures taken to rehabilitate the said road. ends
