Kanye Summer Games chairperson, Daniel Letshelaphala, has challenged  Batswana to engage in physical activities to build a healthy nation.

Speaking in an  interview during Kanye Summer Games spectacle, he implored Batswana to engage in exercise or any physical activity to keep their bodies fit and prevent unnecessary ailments.

He said training would make the work force to be productive, adding that a healthy population would keep the economy vibrant.

Letshelaphala said after identifying a need to keep the population fit, DML Wellness and Fitness Centre introduced Kanye Summer Games that sought to bring all sport codes under one roof.

He said it was imperative to bring all stakeholders on board to achieve their mandate of keeping the nation fit.

Furthermore, Letshelaphala said that for Kanye Summer Games activities to grow,  communities needed to unite and share the same vision of having a healthy nation at the back of their minds.

He shared that health came first in everything, which was healthy for the economy, adding that Kanye Summer Games organisers wanted to brand and lure tourists into the area  through sports. 

Letshelaphala, who is also the director of DML Wellness and Fitness Centre, said his gym went an extra mile to train elders of above 60 years through Botsogo Pele programme for free during winter sessions as a way of encouraging the nation to exercise and keep fit.

For his part, Tumelo Boikanyo, Kanye Summer Games’ power lifting and body building participant appreciated the sport saying it attracted the youth from streets thus averting awkward attitude.

He said it also created a platform for the youth to unearth their talent, which they might use as source of living.

He said the prime objective of vision 2036 remained delivery of prosperity for all and ensuring that every Motswana enjoyed a dignified livelihood, therefore engaging in physical activities could act as a catalyst towards the vision attainment.

He said such a spectacle taught people the importance of sport  especially body building which was scarce in the country. BOPA
