Nico United ready for Francistown City Greens

05 Dec 2019

Nico United’s spokesperson, Ntibi Kedikilwe, is confident that his team would defeat Francistown City Greens in the Debswana First Division North league game slated for Selebi Phikwe tomorrow.

Nico United are on third position in league log standings while their  weekend opponents are trailing behind at position 12.

Kedikilwe said his players’ patience with the ball, tactical play and confidence would come handy.

“Our team is performing well so far and we are aiming at position one or two,” he said.

Despite the good performance, Majombolo had been struggling financially, something that resulted in the team losing many stars to other teams.

Majombolo bowed out of the BTC Premiership after their main sponsor at the time, BCL Mine, closed down in 2016.

“Because of financial constraints, we lose players every season because our players are not being paid. We are only left with a few old players. Majority of our players are new.”

Kedikilwe appealled to the business community in and outside Selebi Phikwe to sponsor the team and take it back to its glory days.

He said this would enable his team to book a spot in the BTC Premiership and bring in more sporting activities to the mining town.

The PRO thanked Nico United supporters clubs for their support, stressing that if it was not for them, the team would not exist.

The team also managed to fill in the positions of patron, president, vice chairperson and public relations officer, which were left vacant after some of the former BCL employees left town for greener pastures.

In their last game, the side drew with Palapye’s Motlakase Power Dynamos. BOPA
