A press release from Botswana Examinations Council states that a total of 47 518 candidates wrote the exam showing an increase in candidature of 2.34 per cent.
The release says the overall performance indicates that the proportion of candidates obtaining credit grades (Grade C or better) went up by 1.55 per cent from 72.78 in 2018 to 74.33 per cent in 2019. The percentage of candidates obtaining Grade A has gone up by 1.55 per cent from 19.26 per cent recorded in 2018 to 20.81per cent in 2019. There are 18.09 per cent of candidates at Grade B compared to 19.14 per cent in 2018, representing a slight decrease of 1.05 per cent and an increase of 1.05per cent from 34.38 per cent in 2018 to 35.43 per cent at Grade C.
The release further states that the proportion of candidates at grade D has decreased by 0.46 per cent from 19.58 per cent in 2018 to 19.12 per cent in 2019.
There has also been a decrease of 1.1 per cent from 7.54 per cent in 2018 to 6.43 per cent in 2019 at grade E. BOPA
