Government has no plans to construct a sport complex any time soon in Mahalapye Sub-district, Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development, Mr Tumiso Rakgare has said. The minister said financial constraints remained a major factor that prevented resuscitation of construction of sports complexes, adding that there was no intention to construct a sport complex for all codes as there were many of them.

Mr Rakgare, who was answering a question raised by Mahalapye West MP, Mr David Tshere, further stated that construction of a sport complex for Mahalapye Sub-district would be considered alongside other districts when government’s financial situation improved.

He said the ministry had an office in Mahalapye that catered for Mahalapye Sub-district and that there were programme officers that facilitated youth in the sub-district in terms of sport and other programming areas. Mr Tshere had inquired as to when the ministry was planning to build a sport complex with facilities for all sporting codes in Mahalapye Sub-district. He also wanted to know the plan regarding the youth of Mahalapye Sub-district on issues of sports. ENDS
