The Minister of Transport and Communications Mr Thulagano Segokgo says the Nata-Francistown, Nata-Maun road construction projects were not included in the current National Development Plan (NDP11).
Responding to a question from the Nata-Gweta MP Mr Polson Majaga, the minister said as a result, his ministry did not have funds for the projects. He said the roads have been proposed for inclusion in the NDP 11 during the ongoing mid-term review exercise.
Regarding the Nata-Maun road, he said government was in the process of procuring a concessional loan from the Chinese government for reconstruction of the road.
Minister Segokgo said a feasibility study, which was a requirement of the concession loan, had been concluded for consideration by the Chinese authorities. He further said it was targeted that the loan agreement be concluded before the end of the year.
Mr Majaga wanted to know when the Nata-Gweta Francistown, Nata-Maun road construction project would commence as it was long promised to the constituents of Nata-Gweta by the three previous Ministers. ENDS
