27 Nov 2019

Ministry for Presidential Affairs, Governance and Public Administration employees have been urged to work in unison for quality results.

Addressing staff at Botswana Public Service College this week, the minister, Mr Kabo Morwaeng said consulting and engaging with staff was critical for efficient delivery of services.

Mr Morwaeng, who was accompanied by his assistant Mr Dumizweni Mthimkhulu, said staff engagement and consultation would build team work and take the public service to greater heights.

He said one of the resolutions of a recent cabinet retreat was to look into various government programmes with the view to improving them.

In addition, Mr Morwaeng said it was resolved that all ministries should engage employees on the transformation agenda as a way of improving service delivery.

He acknowledged challenges the ministry was faced with and applauded employees for their perseverance.

They were assured of the minister’s support to help them address and resolve the challenges.

Mass Media Complex BOPEU Branch Chairperson Mr Kabelo Kabelo appealed to the ministers  to engage further with individual  departments as well as departmental labour union leaders to familiarise themselves with issues.

Mr Kabelo said those in charge had not been doing enough to address staff issues.

A Department of Government Printing and Publishing Services  employee, Mr Phillip Boikanyo appealed to the minister to address issues put before him saying they had been pending for years.

“You cannot have a productive public service if it is always disgruntled,” said Mr Boikanyo.

Responding to the comments, Minister Morwaeng promised to take heed of the advice adding that he would embark on a visit to all departments under the ministry.

Permanent secretary in the ministry, Mr Thuso Ramodimoosi implored leaders to be exemplary to their staff which he said would yield better results.

Mr Ramodimoosi further stressed the importance of teamwork to the achievement of efficiency and effectiveness.

Employees were encouraged to do their reviews  which were necessary for measuring performance and rewards. Ends
