Police investigate cause of accident

Police are investigating a case in which a 37-year-old motorist lost control of his car that hit and killed a nine-year-old girl while others aged two, four and seven and companions were rushed to Nyangabwe Referral hospital for medical attention.
Assistant Superintendent Thatayaone David confirmed in an interview that the driver was still in police custody as investigations continued.
Asst. Supt. David revealed that the accident happened between 8am and 9am on Sunday when the girls were on their errands.
He said their initial suspicion was that the driver could have failed to maneuver an open curve which led to him losing control of the car that veered off into a council institution house after hitting the three children who were walking besides the road.
He thus appealed to drivers to always drive with due care and desist from speeding, especially within villages where road users included children who were not empowered enough on how to use the roads. ENDS
