24 Nov 2019
Debswana audit manager Ms Tsholofelo Bogosi has applauded Tokafala for strengthening youth development through Enterprise STRYDE aimed at unlocking youth potential in Boteti.
Ms Bogosi said this at Letlhakane Tokafala STRYDE third graduation ceremony in Orapa recently.
She said from 2018 to date, STRYDE Letlhakane had recruited 200 youths to enroll in the programme and they graduated from Cohort 1 and 2, while 60 per cent of the 99 youths who enrolled for cohort 3 were females.
Ms Bogosi said the training was successful and only one person out of 100 youths dropped out.
She encouraged graduates to keep in mind that the STRYDE programme was key to success if they were willing to learn, adopt and practice the knowledge acquired.
Ms Bogosi also said at the end of the programme, they should know how to use their strengths and weaknesses to reach personal goals.
She said since they now knew how to prepare a plan, open and improve their own businesses and being able to work as a group.
She added that they had the tools to reach their professional goals and be confident about acquiring jobs.
She highlighted that once they had mastered those fundamental lessons; they were well set on the path to growth, success and in a position to achieve a healthy financial state, which would improve their lives.
Ms Bogosi also encouraged the youth to stay focused and committed, work together and look out for one another as the STRYDE motto goes, Together We Can Fly.
She said this should be a clear message that success only comes when people work together and persevere.
She also said Debswana adopted STRYDE in 2014 to facilitate its mandate as a development and implementing partner of the sustainable development goals, with special focus on communities in the operations of Jwaneng, Orapa, Letlhakane and Damtshaa mines.
She said the programmmes were born out of a strategic partnership between Debswana, Anglo America, DeBeers and Botswana government.
Ms Bogosi said the partnership sought to realise the emancipation of citizen enterprises, in particular small micro and medium enterprise. Ends
