Over 18 000 get assistance in Ngami

A cumulative total of 18 147 beneficiaries were assisted in the Ngami constituency through the destitute persons’ programmes over the past five years.
Assistant Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, Mr Kgotla Autlwetse told Parliament that a number of services were availed to beneficiaries, which included provision of support food relief and toiletries, uniforms and private clothing to pupils, provision of psychosocial support as well as payment of destitute cash allowance.
He further noted that burial services, care of orphans and vulnerable children including support of home-based care services and drought-induced services were also some of the services offered to beneficiaries.
Mr Autlwetswe said the provision of such services had been made during the 2015/2016 to 2019/2020 financial year with total spend on these services totalling P159,631,158.27 over the last five years.
Member of Parliament for Ngami, Mr Kainangura Hikuama, wanted an update on a number of persons assessed and or assisted through the destitute person’s programmes and services for the past five years in the Ngami constituency.
He also wanted a breakdown of the type of service, year of assistance and the amount spent. Ends
