Kgosi Puso clinches Ntlo Ya Dikgosi chairmanship again

Kgosi Puso Gaborone of Batlokwa will continue as chairperson of Ntlo Ya Dikgosi after amassing 16 votes against Kgosi Malope Gaseitsewe II of Bangwaketse’s 11 and Bakwena’s Kgosi Kgari Sechele III’s six.
Kgosi Puso will be assisted by Kgosi Tshipe Tshipe who was voted for by 18 members while Kgosi Moeti Monyamane got 13.
Speaking after Tuesday’s elections in the house witnessed by the President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi, thanked dikgosi for giving him yet another opportunity to lead them.“I take this as a responsibility, it is an honour and a privilege to ensure that whatever the members desire from the leadership of this house be done by working together as a team,” he said.
Kgosi Puso promised to be efficient and effective.
He also expressed gratitude for the peaceful general elections.
“We wish to congratulate President Masisi on his assumption to the highest office in the land.
We also like to congratulate the vice president, members of Parliament and those who have been appointed to different portfolios.
We wish them success as they take the baton of leadership of this republic,” he said.Kgosi Puso said dikgosi appreciated President Masisi’s emphasis on the need for constitutional review during this week’s State of the Nation Address.
He said Ntlo ya Dikgosi members hoped to play a meaningful role concerning the direction they wished the traditional leadership to take.
Kgosi Gaborone said the house had a number of incomplete tasks among them an amendment of the rules to enable the President to address them on an annual address.
Part of the amendment, he said, was to allow special dignitaries and visiting delegations an opportunity to address Ntlo Ya Dikgosi and inclusion of parliamentary counsel in the rules of procedure and sergeant at arms for security purposes. Ends
