Economic planners and performance improvement coordinators (PICs) have a significant role to play in taking Botswana forward, Mahalapye Sub-district deputy district commissioner has said.
Mr Bakuedi Masole told PICs and economic planning heads from the 18 ministries on a five-day retreat that commenced in Mahalapye on November 18 that they were the hope of government projects.
He said their planning skills and knowledge could take the country far.
“Let’s work hard, deliver effective work, because in you are the most critical people in this country, so your importance is highly recognised,” Mr Masole stated.
He encouraged heads of economic planning units and performance PICS to recognise their position as the most important across all ministries.
For his part, public sector reforms coordinator, Dr Omponye Kereteletswe told attendants that their role was to drive government’s vision.
He therefore urged them to be bold in executing their duties because failure to do so could be detrimental to government.
Assistant administration officer at Office of the President, Ms Keatlaretse Mompati explained that the aim of the retreat was to review some issues and finalise the performance agreement template. Ends
