Angels bag maximum points

17 Nov 2019

Debswana First Division North campaigners, Eleven Angels continued their rich vein of form as they dominated visiting Maun Terrors to collect maximum points at the Old Francistown Stadium on November 16.

The game ended in a 2-0 win for the hosts and moves the Francistown-based outfit to second position on the log trailing log leaders, Sua Flamingoes by four points.

Angels now have 17 points after nine games while log leaders, Flamingoes, who won against Santa Green on Saturday, accumulated 21 points.

The youthful Angels, who dominated from the first whistle, showed intent in the opening proceedings of the game as they suffocated Terrors and put them on a defensive footing.

The hosts adopted an offensive game plan with Desmond Mtokufa, Thero Maduo and Bakang Mpatane raiding the visitors defence continuously in the first 10 minutes of the game.

Angels were rewarded for their relentless offensive play in the 18th minute when Mtokufa opened the score sheet by rattling the net from close range to separate the two teams.

Mpatane, especially, was a thorn in the Terrors defence but was let down by poor finishing in front of goal.

His creativity and ball control ensured that the home team dictated the pace of the game.

The hosts did not take long to put the game beyond their opponents’ reach when they doubled the lead through a well headed goal from Thero Maduo, who rose above the visitor’s defenders to meet a high flying ball, which he hammered into Emmanuel Keiditswe’s empty net.

The Terrors’ defensive trio of Remoneilwe Masia, Edward Makhinda and Iketseng Keitshokile had a torrid afternoon trying to repulse attacks from the host’s strikers.

Terrors’ Brian Kedisiste tried to inject life into his team with a string of intelligent passes to no avail.

Early in the second half, Maduo nearly got a brace but saw his header ricocheting against the crossbar with the goalkeeper out of sight.

Terrors keeper, Keiditswe was the busier of the two as he parried on target shots away from the danger zones as his defenders left him exposed.

Makhinda missed the opportunity to pull a goal back against the run of play but his effort flew across the goal mouth with Keletso Lekuni in Angels goals ball watching.

The hosts finished the game with 10 men after Fungai Muzila was given marching orders after a second bookable offence. Ends
