Botswana to host Zone IV swimming championships

Botswana will host the 2020 Confederation Africaine de Natation (CANA) ZONE IV Swimming Championships billed for the University of Botswana swimming pool from February 20-23.
A press release from Botswana Swimming Sports Association states that 13 countries with 320 athletes and numerous coaches, team officials and visitors from within the Southern African region are expected to attend the tournament.
According to the release, CANA Zone IV’s is the biggest annual swimming event and has grown in popularity and standing within Africa over the past 19 years.
The event recognised by Federation Internationale de Natation (FINA) is expected to attract some top-class as well as showcase some of the young talent and upcoming swimmers that this region has to offer. The expected countries are Angola, Comoros, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Eswatini, Zimbabwe and Zambia. Some of the championships partners and sponsors for the 2020 edition include Stanbic Bank, Cresta Hotels, Wimpy, Coca Cola, Spar Botswana, Haskins, Evo Branding and Nashua Botswana.
“We would like to acknowledge their contributions and generous support to growing the sport of swimming within Botswana and Africa. It will help prove that Botswana is capable of hosting events of international standard in swimming and demonstrate to Batswana that we can, and we will host and compete with the rest of the world.” ENDS
