Limpopo Tourism Agency strengthen SADC relations
12 Nov 2019
Limpopo Tourism Agency (LTA) media liaison officer, Mr Kgatla Ntlhekeng, says his agency continues to strengthen relations with SADC member states.
In an interview during the agency’s marketing activations in Gaborone, Mr Kgatla said the continued relations were part of the regional integration and their contribution to the 5 in 5 strategy by the mother body, South African Tourism.
He said LTA’s participation in the strategy was part of its contribution to the Zambezi Marketing Initiative, which was a regional collaborative initiative within SADC.
The 5 in 5 strategy, Mr Kgatla said, sought to ensure proportionate resource allocation and coordination of marketing activity across all key industry role players.
He indicated that SADC was a critical source market for Limpopo Province, hence marketing activations in Botswana, among other SADC countries.
Mr Kgatla noted that in their activations, they sought to engage Batswana as well as tour operators to package Limpopo Province experiences in their holiday itineraries.
He said LTA sought to grow SADC arrivals in their province as well as increase their spending and length of stay in the province.
Among events they showcased during the activation were Marula Festival, Mapungubwe Arts Festival and the Tour de Limpopo road race cycling event. ENDS
He noted that they also had activations in Francistown. ENDS
