Kgosi Rebagamang Rancholo of Nata has been nominated to represent the Tutume region at Ntlo Ya Dikgosi for the next five years.

Kgosi Rancholo was nominated by 61 delegates out 130 that cast their votes during a highly contested session that was held at Mosetse recently.

Tutume region is made up of six villages of Shashe West which include Marapong, Matsitama, Marobela, Sebina and Nshakazhogwe as well as Semitwe and all the villages of Nkange and Nata/Gweta constituencies.

Kgosi Rancholo became the ultimate winner from a group of five candidates among them his predecessor, Kgosi Rapelang Khuwe of Marobela, who has been representing the region for the last five years.

Kgosi Khuwe was nominated by eight people, while Kgosi Moemedi Selolwane of Tutume got 10 votes, while Kgosi Shathani Kgakanyane of Sebina, who was a specially elected member of the house in 2004, got 13 votes followed by Kgosi Shadrack Mphala-Mengwe, who garnered 38 votes.

In a briefing prior to the nomination session, chairperson of electoral team for the region senior assistant council secretary for Tutume Sub-council, Mr Maipelo Selatolo explained that they expected 160 delegates to cast their vote.

However, he pointed out that some of the delegates did not cast their votes because they did not bring their national identity cards, which was a prerequisite to participate in the nominations.

He nonetheless commended the delegates for their patience with the process and urged them to engage his office if there were any issues that needed to be addressed prior to processes in future.

Meanwhile, Kgosi Rancholo appreciated his fellow dikgosi for trusting him with the responsibilities of representing them at Ntlo Ya Dikgosi.

He said his success would be powered by their support, hence he appealed for their full support and promised to always engage them to prepare for his attendance of the house. ENDS
