06 Nov 2019

One of the organisers of Kids on Mission (KOM) Sensei Kabelo Molefe says parental support has proved to be a catalyst in the growing numbers of children interested in karate.

He said this following a successful tournament held at Botswana Universiry of Agriculture and Natural Resources (BUAN)  recently.

KOM, as the name suggests,  tournament focuses on children.

Sensei Molefe said this year’s attendance outnumbered the past years and attributed it to parental support.

He also admired parents’ interest in the sport, adding that it was different compared to other years.

Meanwhile, Loago Moloi from Eagles Claw in Selebi Phikwe clinched a gold medal on the under 12 boys’ kata category, seconded by Tumiso Tselaesele from village karate club while Lame Sebego, also from Eagle’s Claw finished in the third position.

Lame Hetanang grabbed a gold medal for the female kata category while the gold medal for cadets went to Louis Madibela.

Cadet female kumite gold medal went to Page Kesolofetse while senior male kumite gold medal was scooped by Sebolao Maitseo.

Sensei Molefe expressed delight regarding the attendance, participation and discipline of Karatekas who graced the tournament.

He said he was expecting a huge turn up next year as it would be KOM’s 10th anniversary. ENDS
