Molepolole siblings die in road accident

04 Nov 2019

Two female siblings aged 19 and 22 of Molepolole’s Borakalalo Ward died Saturday after being hit by a car while walking along the Molepolole/Letlhakeng Road near Prisons Department.

A third person, their 22-year-old male friend, is reportedly in critical condition at Scottish Livingstone in Molepolole.

Molepolole station commander Senior Superintendent Motlhaba Ramaabywa told BOPA that the incident occurred at around 1pm.

The 22-year-old woman was confirmed dead on arrival at Scottish Livingstone Hospital while her 19-year-old sister died a couple of hours later following her referral to Princess Marina Hospital in Gaborone.

The 30-year-old driver of the Golf Four involved in the incident escaped unhurt. Investigations into the incident are ongoing, police said.

Meanwhile Superintendent Ramaabywa said Molepolole police had launched an intensive manhunt for four unknown assailants who robbed Borakalalo Choppies Hyper Store of P100 000 on Sunday between 9pm and 10pm after close of business.

The quartet forced their way into the shop with their faces covered with balaclava hats, demanded cash and disappeared into the dark after getting the money.

They reportedly threatened the workers with a blunt object suspected to be a hammer.

Superintendent Ramaabywa is appealing to members of the public to help with information that could lead to the arrest of the robbers.

He has also appealed to the business community in and around Molepolole to exercise caution when handling cash during the festive season.

The station commander urged individuals to avoid keeping large sums of money in business premises or homes. ENDS
