Tutume hailstorm leaves families in dire need

A hail storm, that hit Tutume on November 1 left some families in need of aid.
Tutume disaster management team leader, Mr Uyapo Mafunye said in an interview that the strong winds affected 36 households in Selolwane and Thini wards, involving 94 people.
He said from the number, 56 were children below the age of 15, while nine were elderly people aged 60 and above.
Mr Mafunye however noted that fortunately, none of the affected people needed support in terms of shelter.
He said many of the affected families had some houses thatn were not affected and they managed to take cover in them.
Furthermore, he stated that from the affected number, they had to assist eight with food baskets.
Meanwhile, he pointed out that a young business person breeding chickens lost about 30 in the storm, revealing that they were still monitoring the situation. ENDS
