Ostriches toast of Orange FA Cup awards

Orapa United were the toast of Orange FA Cup awards ceremony in Gaborone on November 1.
The Ostriches lifted the coveted gold cup and P700 000 after beating Township Rollers 3-0 in the final game.
They also almost swept all the other awards in the seven categories of; Player of the Tournament, Goalkeeper of the Tournament Coach of the Tournament, Referee of the Tournament, Assistant Referee of the Tournament, Top Goal Scorer and the Super Fan awards.
Orapa United’s Mothusi Johnson walked away with Player of the Tournament award, bagging P40 000, beating Mothusi Cooper and Omaatla Kebatho, who were nominated in the same category.
The Ostriches’ glove-man Lesenya Malapela bagged the Goalkeeper of the Tournament award, winning himself P25 000, while the Coach of the Tournament award also went to Orapa United’s Mogomotsi Mpote with a P10 000 cash prize.
The Top Goal Scorer award also went to Orapa United Striker, Omaatla Kebatho with a P25 000 cash prize.
Meanwhile, the Referee of the Tournament award went to Joshua Bondo, while the Assistant Referee award went to Mogomotsi Morakile, who both won P10 000.
The Orange FA Cup also recognised the contribution of fans to the beautiful game, awarding the Super Fan Cup award to mo’ Bishopo Daniel Lushiam of Rollers with a P10 000 cash prize.
Orange Botswana CEO, Dr Patrick Benon congratulated the winners for their hard work and commitment, which he said was crucial to taking the sport to greater highs.
He said their standing relationship with the Botswana Football Association (BFA) aimed to grow the sport.
For his part, BFA President, McClean Letshwiti thanked Orange Botswana for the sponsorship, adding that the tournament helped to improve football excitement in Botswana. ENDS
