Rollers maintain run
03 Nov 2019
A goal in each half was enough to earn league front runners and defending champions Township Rollers maximum points and bragging rights over old city rivals Notwane FC in a lukewarm BTC premiership match at the National Stadium on November 2.
Thabiso Boti had levelled matters early in the second half to cancel out Rollers lead and bring a glimmer of hope to a few Sechaba supporters who had come to cheer on their boys.
Rollers attacking midfielder, Lemponye Tshireletso, who has assumed a new role of a central striker, has been on a superb form and on target for the past five league games Rollers had played.
Against Notwane, FC as Tshireletso is affectionately known, drew first blood on the 16th minute and pressed on with several attack in the danger zone to put his team beyond reach.
A resolute defensive line from Notwane kept all attempts at bay.
The defensive line manned by veteran defender Mpoeleng Mpoeleng deserves all credit.
Mpoeleng came close to scoring, but his well taken shot was neatly kept out of danger by Rollers’ goalminder Kabelo Dambe.
Rollers stretched their lead through Segolame Boy after receiving a great pass from Tlhalefo Molebatsi for an easy tap-in.
Meanwhile, the race for league honours and survival continues to be interesting with each passing week. In other games, Gilport Lions sank deeper into the danger zone after Jwaneng Galaxy put four past them.
Miscellaneous FC woes continued after Orapa United hammered six goals against them. Kobamelo Kebaikanye and Mbatshi Elias each scored a brace while Abdaliah Riziki and Omaatla Kebatho scored the last two goals. Rejuvenated Lobatse giants Extension Gunners shocked BDF XI in their own backyard when they scalped them by a solitary goal in Molepolole.
Mosimanegape Ntwaetsile was on target for Mapantsola as they collected maximum points and stayed clear off the dreaded relegation zone. BR Highlanders and Tafic FC shared the spoils in Francistown. ENDS
