Accused pleads not guilty to house breaking theft
30 Oct 2019
A 26-year-old man of Matsila Ward in Moshupa has pleaded not guilty to two counts of house breaking and theft.
On the first count, it is reported that Tumalano Matsila broke and entered Poloko Gojewang’s house in Mmaseetsele Ward in Moshupa with intent to steal on Setember 21 last year.
For count two, he is said to have on the same date and place, fraudulently and without claim of right, stolen property worth P2 600 belonging to Poloko Gojewang.
The stolen goods include speakers valued at P450, P550 worth of black Levi’s jeans, luggage bag and red All Kasi t/shirt each valued at P350 each, three brown trousers and green boots valued at P300 each.
Even though the matter was scheduled for commencement of trial on Tuesday before Kanye Magistrate Daniel Nkau, prosecutor Seargent Reginald Mpati said they realised that the accused’s plea was not noted.
He told the court that even though a plea was scheduled for June 19, records did not reflect what transpired.
He therefore requested for the charge sheet to be read after which the accused pleaded not guilty to both counts.
In addition, the accused said he was not fully served with all statements to prepare for trial.
The matter was scheduled for May 5 next year on which date the state is expected to have served the accused with all relevant documents.ENDS
