20 Oct 2019

The Assistant Minister of Health Mr Sethomo Lelatisitswe says the expansion of Moremaoto Health post by Debswana is an indication that a lot can be achieved through government and the private sector partnerships.

Officially opening the Moremaoto health post, Mr Lelatisitswe called for more of such partnerships.

Debswana’s investment, he said was in line with government’s integrated health service plan and the Sustainable Development Goals which called for access to quality health care for all.

Moremaoto health post has been providing primary health care for the last 20 years and the structure gradually dilapidated.

“The poor condition called for major refurbishment and extension of the structure to meet the growing population and the complexity of the current health services,”Mr Lelatisitswe said.

He said the extension and refurbishment of the facility would improve the provision of quality health service to the community of Moremaoto and surrounding areas as well as the country at large.

The project comprised of the refurbished old health post, newly built facility which consisted of doctors’ consultation room, sexual and reproductive health room, as well as a dispensary and drug storeroom.

The General Manager of Orapa Letlhakane and Damtshaa Mines Mr Bakani Motlhabani said the project was intended to ease congestion and improve access to high quality health care.

He revealed that OLDM invested P1.9 million in the project, noting that transformation was attainable when partnerships were pursued.

Mr Motlhabani stated that thirty of OLDM business partners contributed a total of P410 000 towards the project through sponsorship of the annual General Manager’s walk.

He appreciated TKM engineering for not only delivering the project on time and within the budget but for also contributing P200 000 towards the project.

He said the turnaround period was commendable and had proven to be a benchmark for project execution.

The project, he said, employed 17 Batswana with 10 from Moremaoto of which two were artisans from Construction Industry Trust Fund(CITF). ENDs
