Great North Tigers (GNT) registered their first point in a goalless draw with Sua Flamingoes during a Debswana First Division North encounter in Francistown on October 5.

The game started with a moment of silence to remember Tafic player, Molebatsi Kangangwane, who recently died in a road accident.

From the onset, the two arch rivals attacked each other strongly.

Flamingoes’ striker, Samuel Makgoro, motivated his side with skillful moves making countless attacks on GNT’s defence.

The GNT’s defence remained solid and managed to stop the fast winger, Bofelo Mogapi from penetrating the 18-yard area to find back of the net.

GNT’s goalkeeper, Kealeboga Hobona, also made a brilliant safe from a set piece outside the 18-yard area, which could have given Sua Flamingoes a lead.

Nonetheless GNT’s Wazha Sethuro smashed a cracker shot unfortunately the vigilant Sua Flamingoes’ goalminder Andrew Race was equal to the task.

The second half saw Sua Flamingoes making good runs in GNT’s box creating several chances without success.

GNT continued to pile pressure on their opponents who absorbed the pressure well, a trait that saw the game’s tempo heightening.

At some point, Sua Flamingo’s Sidney Moseki smashed a free kick on target, but Hobona was in no mood to entertain such.

GNT head coach, Ndiyapo Letsholathebe, said circumstances beyond their control denied his side a win.

He said most of his players were young and inexperienced, still new to play in the league hence not winning any game since the beginning of the league.

For his part, Sua Flamingoe’s coach, Rapelang Tsatsilebe, said his team failed to utilise the chances they created but GNT’s backline was hard to penetrate.

Sua Flamingoes will host Motlakase at its home ground in Sowa Town this coming weekend while GNT will travel to Maun to play Sankoyo Bush Barks.

At the top of the league is Mahalapye based Santa Greens with seven points, followed by Nico United also with seven points whilst Francistown City Greens lied at the bottom of the log. ENDS
