Rovers halts Chiefs winning streak

The much anticipated First Division South encounter between long-time arch-rivals, Mochudi Centre Chiefs and Mochudi Rovers failed to live to expectations.
It ended in a dull goalless stalemate at Modipane grounds on October 5.
Magosi started their first division campaign on a high with a 100 per cent win. The former premier league giants knew anything but a win would leave them at the top of the table and in charge of their own destiny in their pursuit to regain their lost pride since been relegated from the elite league.
With only one point from their first three opening games, Rovers, on one hand, started the Saturday encounter as underdogs, but their players showed nerves as well as quality to come through what many felt would be a baptism of fire from Magosi.
Led by goalkeeper, Pleasure Pheko, Rovers could have been forgiven for fearing the worst after a goalless first half where they were superior but thwarted all chances.
After the break, they moved in the gears to frustrate Chiefs in front of their forever jubilant supporters, who recognised the significance of winning the game to further open the gab at the top.
Chiefs were anxious in a goalless first 45 minutes but turned up the heat after the break to pile more pressure on the resolute Rovers defence with veteran striker, Moemedi
Moatlhaping, coming close to breaking the deadlock on the 60th minute only for him to be denied by a goal-line clearance by Moses Tshose with Rovers keeper Pheko well beaten.
In his post-match interview, Rovers coach, Patrick Molefe, applauded his youthful side for playing according to his instructions and earning a point against the league leaders.
“I am proud of my team for fighting all the way to the final whistle and securing a valuable point for the team which I think will boost the team morale going into our next game,” he said.
Chiefs coach, Oris Radipotsane declined to talk to the media citing his displeasure on recent media allegations that link with him with a move to Galaxy as an assistant coach. Ends
