Accidents claim three lives

Police in Tutume are investigating two accidents in which three lives, including that of a teenager, were lost.

 In an interview with  BOPA, Tutume Police’s Superintendent Jerry Halahala said the accidents happened in the early hours of October 1, at different locations. 

In one of the accidents, which occurred near Selolwane Kgotla, when the driver of a Honda Fit lost control and hit a tree and one passenger; a 17-year-old boy, died on the spot while the driver was certified dead on arrival at Tutume Primary Hospital. 

He said the other passenger, aged 19, is hospitalised and is in stable condition. 

In the second accident, Supt Halahala said a 26-year-old man of Ndzonga Ward in Nkange was certified dead on arrival at Tutume Primary Hospital after he lost control of his Toyota Vitz, which overturned. 

The bodies of the deceased are at Tutume Primary Hospital awaiting postmortem. 

The police chief also said they were investigating a hit and run accident in which two men were knocked down by a car near Tutume Forestry Department around midnight Tuesday.

 One is hospitalised while the other was discharged. 

Supt Halahala cautioned motorists to drive with care, obey roads signs and not to drink and drive. ends
