Southern District Council appreciates stakeholders

24 Sep 2019

Southern District Council (SDC) last weekend converged its stakeholders among them, former councillors, members of the business community, individuals and appreciated them for the scalps they have achieved working together towards a common end in the past five years.

Speaking during a appreciation ceremony, SDC chairperson, Mr Alec Seametso explained that they gathered stakeholders to celebrate their achievements as a district.

Mr Seametso explained that they also appreciated God’s strong hand that had, in ways unbeknown to them, placed them in different positions to serve Batswana.

He told stakeholders that government was keen to create a friendly environment for the private sector to thrive.

He shared that government had, to this end, removed all bottlenecks that used to impede on growth of the private sector.

Mr Seametso, however explained that any transformation started with a dream, focus, determination and hard work and pledged that his organisation was eager to facilitate growth of the private sector rather than becoming a stumbling block.

He encouraged all stakeholders to continue pulling together to achieve more.

Among others, Mr Seametso commended the Kanye Seventh Day Adventist Hospital for having served as the district hospital since its inception in 1923. He said the hospital had afforded residents of the Southern district dignity through world class medical services.

Mr Seametso further thanked specially nominated councillor for Moshupa, Ms Ponatshego Tshiping for having served the district with honour for the last 25 years. He said Ms Tshiping’s tireless contribution had made the district what it was today.

Mr Seametso furthermore applauded Mr Patrick Ralotsia, Dr Alfred Madigele, Mr Shawn Ntlhaile and Mr Karabo Gare for their selfless efforts to develop the district.

Meanwhile, Ms Tshiping shared that patience was a ‘must have attribute’ for any political leader, adding that development was a process not an event.

She said they had long mooted the construction of Moshupa primary hospital when she joined the Council in 1994, and was happy to have waited to see it actualise. One of her achievements, she further revealed was the construction of Moshupa sub-district council facility.

SDC furthermore awarded Mr Seametso for his stewardship at the helm of the organisation.

When he conferred the award, district commissioner Mr Mmoloki Raletobana applauded Mr Seametso for demanding nothing but the best out of public officers. Ends
