23 Sep 2019

Teaching 21st century learners demands that the teacher possesses love, compassion and positivity.

It is also advisable that physical and mental fitness forms part and parcel of learning process.

This was said by Pastor Isaac Mokgatla from Heaven Ambassadors church when addressing teachers and learners during a wellness day at Sebego Primary School in Kanye on recently.

He said wellness improved the minds and hearts of students to led to a positive and healthy life.

He said a physically fit body led to prolonged life.

In addition, the pastor emphasised discipline in terms of diet, encouraging that people should eat healthy foods mostly vegetables and less meat to fend off non-communicable diseases such as high blood pressure, stress and depression.

School head Ms Girly Botsang complained that the school, which had a population of 626 pupils, had no proper functioning toilets, a hygiene challenge she said might compromise the health of learners.

She said academically the school was not performing well, but through regular wellness activities they hoped to motivate learners to improve performance.

She expressed hope that the school performance would improve with time. Ends
