Gare applauds public officers

23 Sep 2019

Assistant Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry has applauded public officers for effectively implementing government’s development plans.

Addressing a kgotla meeting in Moshupa recently, Mr Karabo Gare said the success of government programmes was a result of commitment by public officers.

He said politicians were responsible for making laws and policies while public officers were implementers.

“We should acknowledge them because as key implementers they play a big role in the economy of this country,” he said.

Mr Gare, who is also Moshupa/Manyana prospective parliamentary candidate, said even though some developments came later than expected, he was pleased that they were finally delivered.

He also applauded residents for their patience when the Moshupa primary hospital was deferred.

He said the hospital, whose construction started this month, would reduce the distance to neighbouring villages where they had been accessing health services.

He also noted that other projects undertaken through the constituency funds were ongoing while the construct of the stadium was at an advanced stage.

He implored residents to take advantage of the hospital project and venture into a variety of businesses.

Mr Gare said those already in business should contact the contractor to see how they could benefit. He also noted that the contractor had already been cautioned against ill-treatment of employees, and therefore they did not expect labour related conflicts.

Meanwhile, residents said they were grateful for the successful and ongoing projects in their village.

They applauded Mr Gare and his predecessor President Dr Mokgweetsi Masisi for their contribution to the success of projects.

The Umbrella Village Development Committee chairperson, Mr Albert Golekanye said even though they welcomed developments in their village, exorbitant rentals hampered them from successfully doing business.

He urged government to consider building market stalls for youth businesses so that they could take advantage of the opportunities and consequently enhance the economy.

One resident, Mr Letlhogonolo Mothoemang commended Mr Gare for fulfilling the promises that he made when he assumed the MP’s office.

However, he underscored the need for government to encourage contractors to empower local businesses.

He said small construction businesses should benefit from such projects.

Other residents called on government to ensure proper monitoring of contractors to avoid low and late payments of employees. Ends
