Gilport Lions defeat Extension Gunners

The crowd pulling Extension Gunners’ intention to return to their glory days became gloomy after Gilport Lions defeated the Lobatse side by 2-1 in a BTC Premiiership game at the National stadium on September 14.

Gilport scored two easy goals barely 15 minutes into the first half.

This was Mapantsula’s second loss after losing to Township Rollers in the league’s opening encounter recently.

Gilport opened the score sheet through a penalty kick taken by Serati Semadi after the Mapantsula defense was penalised for fouling the striker in the box.

Keitshepile Mbasela extended the lead two minutes later after pouncing on a loose ball against the napping opponents.

Gilport’s Vincent Lekorwe came in for Mompoloki Moatshe just before recess.

The speedy forwards of Gilport kept on causing havoc in Gunners rear guard, who seemed sluggish after the second goal.

Mapantsula’s veteran defender Finkie Mothibi was stretched off after a horrible tackle from Gilport’s Lone Taela.

Midway through the second half Gunners’ Obonye Moswate scored a screamer after Dirang Moloi laid a good ball for him to shoot just outside the box.

Such as in their last game against Rollers, Mapantsula seemed to be getting their groove back towards the end of the game.

However they were unfortunate as they found themselves a man down after Moloi was sent to the early shower. ends
