An all women group, Motherhood Maun in collaboration with Tsodilo Community Junior Secondary School Guidance and Counselling Unit donated toiletries to 60 girls.
Speaking during a donation ceremony in Maun on September 13, Motherhood Maun founder, Ms Kerwaletse Mothathubi explained that the movement was formed last year December and their mandate was to offer support to one another as well as to the community at large. Motherhood Maun has 15 members.
The beneficiaries were identified by the Guidance and Counselling unit and each received a toiletry bag containing bath soap, wash cloth, toothpaste, toothbrush, shoe polish, body lotion, deodorant and sanitary towels.
She said currently they did not have a sponsor, but they organised fundraising activities to generate money, which would be channeled towards charitable activities as well as supporting members where necessary.
Ms Mothathubi said through the successful family fundraising held last week at Nhame Museum they were able to make a difference in the students’ lives. She said the school was identified based on the high number of pupils coming from needy families.
The founder pleaded with the business community, individuals and the community at large to assist the group financially in order to achieve its mandate of making a difference in the society.
Ms Mothathubi expressed gratitude to the school management for partnering with them, noting that it was their intention to do more in future to raise worthy future leaders.
An official from the school, Mr Petrus Ledimo appreciated the group for extending a helping hand towards the needy society.
The group, he said, had demonstrated love and compassion towards learners and encouraged them to keep up the good work. Receiving the donation on behalf of beneficiaries, Student Representative Council Pearl Nadisah observed that at times pupils made efforts to assist their fellows, but it was not enough. ENDS
